1. the Pre-choice Choice:
Make some choices right now that define what purity looks like for you. This could be personal purity goals, as well as defined boundaries that you really want for yourself.
2. “THE LIST”
What characteristics does the “perfect girl” or “perfect guy” have? When I was in High School, I wrote a list of 30 qualities: 10 “MUST-HAVES”, 10 “CAN’T-STANDS” and 10 Preferences. It helped me to ask if someone measured up to what I believed to be God’s Best for my lifelong friend. I made changes to it along the way, but with 2 rules:
1. I won’t change the list while I’m romantically interested in someone.
2. I won’t change the list within 3 months of ending a relationship.
This will keep you from letting your list revolve around a person you’re infatuated with, instead of giving your “interest” an anchor in reality.
3. Make a list of bottom line “Won’t-Go-There” behaviors. (If you are at an age where you are allowed to date). Be embarrassingly specific
4. Try to write out your life mission. What does God want you to do? Read scripture and brainstorm.
